Journal [Media] Club Launch

You may recall that at the end of July we shared the results of the survey here.
This week will be holding the launch event.
The purpose of this week is to share and discuss the format and how we think it may work. We have drafted an outline and would love to have your thoughts and feedback.
Of course we will also be announcing the first article / media source for discussion – (at 20.45 to be exact!).
Please do join us and help to make the journal (media) club work for our community.
Proposed Outline:
Volunteer hosts will be asked to write a post to introduce the article or media source they have selected for discussion. This will be posted to the blog one month before the scheduled chat. The format of the introduction post will be left up to the volunteer host. All that we ask is that it includes the reference and access information for the article or media source, the reason you have chosen the article and which (if any) tool the volunteer host will be using to guide the discussion. Beyond that if the volunteer host wishes to write more they are welcome to do so. A more detailed guide can be found here.
During the month leading up to the scheduled chat please add comments, thoughts and share your reviews and reflections in the comments of the original blog post. this will enable more lengthy discussions and debates for those who feel this is more suiting to individual preference. We would ask the volunteer host to check for comments and reflections during the month to support the discussion.
We hope to build a resource of tools for people to use for reviewing the articles or media sources. These will be posted on the blog here. Please share your own links too.
On the evening of the scheduled chat the volunteer host, will be on twitter between 8pm and 9pm to engage and share thoughts, reviews and reflections in relation to the article or media source they have chosen. Volunteer hosts will tweet from their own accounts and the #OTalk tag will be utilised. Twenty four hours after the chat a member of the OTalk organising team will post the transcript to the blog in the same way as we do for all the chats.
